So many resources, so little time…below is a list of the cream of the crop online resources for nonprofit
management, foundations and national animal welfare organizations.

Be careful, don’t get lost, go in knowing what you are looking for and stay on track.  If you know of a website

Agency Resources and Links
The Center for Nonprofit Management’s mission is to create and sustain nonprofit
excellence by providing training, consulting and valuation programs that meet the
education and management needs of the nonprofit community.  Resources include classes,
a nonprofit management library with access to online funding databases and The
Grantseeker’s Guide to Tennessee Funders a publication listing Tennessee’s foundation
and corporate funding sources.
The Chronicle of Philanthropy is a bi-weekly newspaper for the nonprofit world and is the
No. 1 resource for charity leaders, fundraisers and grant makers and those in the nonprofit
industry.  
The Foundation Center is the nations leading resource on philanthropy, connecting
nonprofits and grantmakers by maintaining the most comprehensive database on US
grantmakers and their grants.
Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is the professional association of individuals
responsible for generating philanthropic support for a wide variety of nonprofit, charitable
organizations.                         
The official website for the State of Tennessee.
Community Foundations are publicly supported, tax-exempt organization designed to foster and encourage philanthropy and
charitable giving in within a specified region (or community). Foundations award grants in areas a wide variety of service areas
from animals to health and human services, education and the arts, conservation and preservation, just to name a few.  Grants are
limited to specific geographic regions.

Community Foundations
The HCA Foundation is the philanthropic arm of HCA, the mission of Foundation is to
promote health and well being and support childhood and youth development in Middle
Tennessee.
The Frist Foundation is one of the largest foundations in Tennessee providing grant to
nonprofits operating in Middle Tennessee.
The Memorial Foundation supports many nonprofit organizations that provide important
services in Middle Tennessee.
The Gannett Foundation is a corporate foundation sponsored by Gannett Co., Inc. , owner
and operators of several Tennessee state newspapers and tv stations.  The Foundation gives
grants to organizations in the communities in which Gannett owns a daily newspaper or
television station.
The United Way …in communities across America, 1350 United Ways improve lives by
mobilizing the caring power of their communities. More than fundraisers, United Ways are
partners in change, working with a broad range of people and organizations to identify and
resolve pressing community issues.
National Animal Welfare Organizations & Funders
The American Humane Association, as a network of individuals and organizations, has a
mission to prevent cruelty, abuse, neglect, and exploitation of children and animals and to
assure that their interests and well-being are fully, effectively, and humanely guaranteed by
an aware and caring society.
The Humane Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic is dedicated to ending the pet overpopulation by
providing high volume, high quality, targeted affordable sterilization services of companion
animals.  This is accomplished by strategic placement and implementation of targeted
spay/neuter clinics nationwide.
Maddie’s Fund is a grantmaking Family Foundation dedicated to promoting the No kill
movement.  Its mission is to revolutionize the status and well being of companion animals.
D J & T Foundation was established by Bob Barker of the Price Is Right.   The Foundation's
goal is to fund low cost spay/neuter clinics and voucher programs as a way to help relieve
animal over population.
SPAY/USA, a program of North Shore Animal League America, is a nationwide network and
referral service for affordable spay/neuter services.  Their mission is to end the suffering of
innocent dogs and cats by reducing the number of unwanted births. Anyone who needs
assistance finding affordable spay/neuter services can benefit by using the SPAY/USA
referral service.
Pets 911 is a free network, which is a collaborative effort of all the animal rescue
organizations and services across the country, is easily accessible through both a toll-free
phone number and website, which promises easy access to all the local pet information
necessary to instill responsible pet ownership and overcome the issue of animal
homelessness.
The Humane Career Toolbox was created by the Humane Society University and provides
resources for those interested in pursuing careers with animals. Learn about different
humane careers; volunteer and internship opportunities; professional organizations and
associations; and HSUS publications and courses.
